Our bodies are comprised of joints which make circles in order to express the spiralling nature of our biology, and by no means is this explanation supposed to be comprehensive. The legs, controlled by the hip joint primarily, spiral beneath us, the knees and ankles follow. The recruitment of muscles follows this spiralling process. The explanation I gave is simply freezing this process, thus making a spiral a circle, frozen in time, and the two points, one of contraction and one of relaxation, lie at 180 degrees from one another upon this circle.
